California Energy Code Seminar
Credit: 5 HSW/LUs
Description: Join us for a great Presentation and Working Session with Luke Morton as he will be covering all the new changes to Title 24 Energy standards for low-rise residential projects, Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), and electrification.
Both the market and codes have continued to change with a huge increase in ADU development, as well as many Bay Area municipalities adopting all-electric preferences or requirements. In this session, we’ll check in with these hot topics and compliance options and challenges.
We’ll review once and for all whether or not solar PV is required for your ADU project, discuss where to put a heat pump water heater, and figure out how to build with 2×4’s again (and get compliance credit for it!)
Learning Objectives
- Understand the 2019 Building Energy Efficiency Standards updates and changes with a specific focus on ADUs (Accessory Dwelling Units).
- Learn how to calculate the solar photovoltaic requirements for new single-family construction, including ADUs (Accessory Dwelling Units).
- Explore the new Performance credits (such as batteries) that can be deployed in energy modeling to trade-off the Prescriptive requirements.
- Learn some tips and tricks for getting your projects into compliance with a minimum of cost and headache.
