A new generation of workplace that focuses on human and nature

This January 19th Event is Sold Out!

Opened in May 2022, Google’s Bay View campus is among the largest buildings in the world to receive Platinum certification for Building Design and Construction under LEED V4. The three-building development, situated on a 42-acre site, is also on track to be the largest project to attain the International Living Future Institute (ILFI) Living Building Challenge (LBC) Water Petal Certification. Bay View is a great example of the next generation workplace that rethinks how buildings can be designed to integrate with nature and provide healthy, sustainable places for people to do their best work.

Located immediately adjacent to the San Francisco Bay, water is an important focus of the project. All the site’s non-potable water demands will be met using the recycled water generated on-site. The campus houses an innovative geothermal installation for healing and cooling, and will significantly reduce the amount of water used. Bay View is also a 100% electric building and is powered in part by a first-of-its-kind dragon scale solar roofing technology. Combined with power from nearby wind farms, Bay View will be one of Google’s first campuses expected to operate on 90% clean energy.

Join AIASMC Committee on the Environment along with architects from Heatherwick Studio and Google REWS teams for an insightful tour of the Google Bay View Campus.

Architect | Senior Associate at Heatherwick Studios, Design Architect of the Bay View Project

Chris joined Heatherwick’s London studios in 2016 as an architect to help lead a team to design Google’s flagship headquarters Bay View. Google’s ambition to evolve the future of the workplace while setting lofty industry benchmarks in sustainability proved an exciting design and construction challenge. Chris moved to California in 2018 to see through the final design stages and construction for both Heatherwick’s Bay View and Gradient Canopy projects. Chris is key to the studio’s expanding presence in the USA.
