For millennia, earth architecture has long been practiced by societies across the globe, with earth serving as a cornerstone of the built environment. Utilizing this ancient and traditional building material has resulted in unique and novel forms of architectural innovation that are still evolving today.
Researchers will share the results of their year-long investigation into the intersection of earth architecture and artificial intelligence.

Professor Rael is the Eva Li Memorial Chair in Architecture in the Department of Architecture in the College of Environmental Design, and is also a member of the art faculty in the Department of Art Practice at the University of California Berkeley.

Paul Woolford, FAIA
Design Principal

Paul is a Senior Principal and Design Principal for HOK’s San Francisco studio and is responsible for some of the firm’s most innovative and creative buildings. He is a recognized industry leader, whose work has focused on being a design catalyst for helping people rethink the relationship between themselves and their environments. Paul was recently elevated to the AIA College of Fellows.
