ADA Training Part 2
August 31st – 9:00 am – 11:30 am
This session will be 2.5 hours and you will earn 2.5 HSWs.
Presenter: Jan Garrrett
Jan Garrett serves as the Deputy Director of ADA Programs for the Pacific ADA Center at the Public Health Institute (PHI). She has over 25 years of experience providing guidance and training on the ADA and other disability rights laws for businesses, state and local governments, architects, people with disabilities, and others. As a person with a lived experience of disability, Jan has a deeply personal understanding of why disability civil rights are so important.
Day 2: August 31, 2024 – 9:00-11:30 AM
Title: How to design accessible toilet rooms, adult changing facilities, and electric vehicle charging stations and spaces.
Toilet rooms
- Participants will learn the difference between multi-accommodation and single-user toilet room requirements.
- Attendees will understand how and where toilet rooms can be clustered at a location.
- Participants will learn toilet room signage requirements.
- Attendees will learn about new requirements for multi-user all gender toilet facilities as well as new scoping requirements for toilet compartments, urinals, and lavatories.
Adult changing facilities
- Attendees will understand why an adult changing facility is required in specific facilities.
- Participants will learn which locations require adult changing stations and new scoping requirements for these facilities.
- Attendees will be able to identify the required components of an adult changing facility toilet room location.
- Participants will be able to list the minimum size and clearance requirements for an adult changing station.
Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS)
- Participants will learn how EVCS spaces differ from parking spaces in CBC.
- Attendees will learn the different types of EV spaces and new requirements for signs identifying EV spaces.
- Attendees will understand the operable parts requirements for vehicle chargers.
- Participants will learn the accessible route requirements for reaching charging stations.
Sessions will be virtual.
