ARE 5.0 Community Kickoff Meeting

Hello ARE’s Candidates!

If you are studying for any of the ARE exams or if you are just starting, please join our kickoff meeting on Thursday 03/18 at 5:00pm. The main goal is to create a community of young architects who are actively pursuing their license. And for all of us to help each other PASS the exams. We’ll have breakout rooms during the kickoff and group people who are studying for the same exams together.

Session Structure

1- Polls

• We’ll take polls to see which exams to cover this year
• How many haven’t started their eligibility yet? Any new members?

2- Overview of the ARE 5.0 exams

• We’ll go briefly over the 6 exams and talk about the best strategies to study and pass.

3- Study Groups

We’ll divide the attendees who are studying for the same exams into breakout rooms where they can chat and choose their study groups.

• Be prepared to share your camera and mic

Speakers:

Mariela Pfennig-Mahmud 

is a licensed architect in Argentina and California. Born in Argentina and raised in Germany, she brings a rich and diverse background, a strong technical expertise and a lifelong passion for modern architecture. Since 2008, she has been the lead designer at 360 design studio where her main focus is residential architecture.

Others titles she proudly holds include: avid traveler, apple strudel baker, Barça fan, mentor and Mom.

Mariela navigated through multiple versions of the A.R.E. and is delighted to support others on their journey to licensure.

Mohammed Sedqi, AIA, LEED AP BD+C

AIA San Mateo County Chapter President

is a California licensed architect and works as a project architect with DES Architects + Engineers. Mohammed has served in various roles in the AIASMC chapter, including the Emerging Professionals Director, a term as Vice President, and Design Awards Chair in 2020. He holds a passion for mentorship and has been organizing ARE study sessions since early 2019.
