An Introduction to Automated Wildfire Structure Protection
Design and Function for Residential and Commercial

About Frontline Wildfire Defense:
Frontline Wildfire Defense (FWDS) is a wildfire protection platform that protects families, homes, and communities from wildfire disaster.  Frontline’s patent pending technology utilizes an IoT connected exterior sprinkler system to defend structures from wildfire, as well as an app to provide fire monitoring and preparedness.  Frontline uses a Class A, biodegradable firefighting foam to rapidly and deeply saturate combustible materials on and around structures, and provide firefighter level protection without putting firefighters in harm’s way.  Frontline is a comprehensive solution that empowers families and communities to safely live with wildfire in a quickly changing climate.

The Frontline team is uniquely qualified to work with Architects and Builders from project inception, all the way through to the finished installation, having worked on numerous ultra high-end projects throughout San Mateo County to date. We work closely with all stakeholders to provide a system that is resilient, discreet and highly effective.

Frontline Wildfire Defense Systems are currently being installed on homes and businesses throughout the Bay Area, San Diego, Greater Los Angeles, Wine Country, Santa Barbara, and the Lake Tahoe Basin.

In 2022, noting the fractured distribution of information about wildfires despite the lengthening of the fire season, FWDS launched a free app ( 5-star rated) that provides comprehensive wildfire information for public consumption.

About the Lunch & Learn Presentation:

As the built environment continues to press into and overlap with the natural environment, the risk of structure loss from wildfire is ever increasing. Add to this the effects of climate change and short-sighted wildland management strategies, and you have the makings for potential losses in the hundreds of billions annually. Thankfully, there are ways to significantly decrease the risk of structure loss. Thoughtful design and proactive protection have been proven to significantly increase the odds of structure survivability.

Harry’s talk will focus on the current state of wildfire mitigation efforts at a high level, and how intelligent design during the design and build processes can result in structures that are far more resilient to the risks of wildfire than even a few years ago.

Presenter: Harry Statter

Harry Statter is the Founder and CEO of Frontline Wildfire Defense, a wildfire protection platform that protects families, homes, and communities from wildfire disaster.  Harry has been at the forefront of wildfire mitigation efforts for more than two decades, and he is an expert on wildfires, mitigation, applied ecology and forestry.  Harry’s career began in landscape architecture and forest ecology.  In 2002, he founded Firewise Landscapes Inc., a firm specializing in wildfire mitigation and forest health, where he provided private forestry services, wildfire risk reduction, defensible space for individual homes and subdivisions, habitat restoration, carbon sequestration, and invasive species management.

Recognizing the limitations in managing plant fuels to prevent structure ignition, Harry pivoted to focus on developing patented fire mitigation technology that enables structures to protect themselves from wind-propelled, burning embers that are the primary cause of structure ignition during wildfire.  He launched Frontline Wildfire Defense to prepare, monitor, and protect homes, families, and communities from wildfire through its software and IoT based hardware platforms.

Harry holds a degree in landscape architecture from the University of Michigan’s School of Natural Resources and Environment.
