Habitat GSF
This project was in the works for nearly 9 years due to the approval process, funding and mostly a lawsuit from a neighboring property. But it’s now completed and ready for new homeowners!

The project consists of 20 affordable housing units (5 1-bedroom units, 10 2-bedroom units, and 5 3-bedroom units), and an at-grade parking garage with 15 parking spaces and 8 bike parking spaces. Sweat equity work by future homeowners was limited on this project and BAR Architects & Interiors of San Francisco donated a number of hours during the course of the project.

MidPen Housing, Arroyo Green Apartments
The result of a visionary partnership between the City of Redwood City, County of San Mateo, community stakeholders, and MidPen Housing, Arroyo Green Apartments provides 117 affordable homes for seniors and a child care center below, set along a creekside trail in the heart of downtown Redwood City. The community began construction in April 2019 and welcomed residents spring 2021.

Arroyo Green helps address the need for affordable housing for a growing population of seniors. The design supports the goal of healthy living, allowing seniors to age in place and continue to live active and enriched lives. Residents enjoy onsite amenities such as an open air rooftop courtyard with community gardening planters, barbecue, and seating. Indoors, there is a community room, computer lab, a game room and library, a fitness room, and two laundry rooms.

Description of the tour

For an increasing number of people in the Bay Area, the dream of homeownership is out of reach. Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco (Habitat GSF) builds and sustains affordable homeownership opportunities for working families. Through the construction of affordable homes for ownership, home preservation and advocacy, Habitat GSF has helped create a pathway for economic stability and prosperity for more than 480 low- and middle-income families.

Over the past 30+ years, Habitat GSF has built more than 250 homes. With 120 Habitat homes underway and 130 more homes coming forward in the pipeline in Marin, San Francisco, and San Mateo counties, Habitat GSF is doubling their impact.
