Dear AIA San Mateo County Members, Industry Partners, & Friends,

As we step into 2026, I am filled with gratitude, optimism, and excitement for what lies ahead for our chapter and our community.

My name is Iva Langrova. I am originally from the Czech Republic (as many of you already know 😉), and the Bay Area has become my second home. Residential architecture grew close to my heart, and working with people became my favorite part of the profession. I now work in Menlo Park with Ana Williamson Architect, and I am truly honored to serve as your 2026 President.

Architecture has always reminded me that nothing meaningful is created alone. Every great project—every strong idea—requires collaboration, trust, and a shared vision. The same is true for our chapter. We are strengthening our community and building a stronger village to support one another.

This year, I invite you to engage more deeply—with each other, with our profession, and with the broader community we serve. Whether you are a long-time member, a young professional, an allied partner, or someone just beginning to explore your place in architecture, you belong here. Your presence matters. Your perspective matters. Your participation matters!

Let 2026 be a year of:

  • Stronger connections and meaningful conversations

  • Growth through learning, mentorship, and shared experiences

  • Openness to new ideas, new faces, and new ways of working together

Our chapter thrives when we show up—for events, for dialogue, and for one another. I encourage you to take part, reach out, ask questions, and contribute in whatever capacity you are able to. Community is not something we wait for; it is something we actively build.

I am deeply grateful for the dedication of our board, volunteers, allied members, sponsors, and partners who make our work possible. Together, we have an opportunity to strengthen our profession, support one another, and shape a future rooted in collaboration, integrity, and care.

Thank you for being part of AIA San Mateo County. I look forward to growing, learning, and building alongside you in 2026.

With appreciation and optimism,
Iva Langrova
2026 President, AIA San Mateo County
