Science shows that people benefit from daylight, views, and natural ventilation. Today’s technologies allow architects to incorporate biophilic design into building design as part of their net zero carbon design goals and project requirements.

As part of this presentation, a set of case studies will be used to illustrate how architects can design indoor-outdoor elements into their projects, in both new construction and adaptive reuse of existing buildings. These examples will show how integrating biophilic components can improve the quality of life for inhabitants, increase connection to nature, reduce operational energy demands and lower embodied carbon levels.
