The California Architectural Practice Experience program (capX) connects students and emerging professionals with California firms for paid internships, job shadowing, and virtual mentorship, helping build the next generation of our profession. We’re thrilled to launch the redesigned capX 2.0 platform, rebuilt from the ground-up based on feedback from the capX community!

Explore the new site: capx.calarchfoundation.org

What’s new in capX 2.0:

  • A cleaner, more intuitive site designed around what firms and students told us they needed
  • No enrollment cycles. Join anytime, and update your profile whenever your opportunities or availability change
  • Flexible participation for firms of any size: host for a day, a week, or a full summer, or mentor virtually, from anywhere
  • Greater transparency. Profiles are open to the general public, and firms enroll to access resumes and portfolios
  • A new and growing resource section, with tools from CAF, AIA, and participating firms to support mentorship and engagement

Every touchpoint matters. Whether you host, hire, shadow, or mentor, your involvement helps build the pipeline of future architects California needs.

capX runs on community. This program only works because firms, professionals, and chapters across the state show up for it, whether that’s opening your doors, sharing your expertise, or chipping in to keep the platform thriving. A suggested annual donation of $125 for firms and $25 for emerging professionals and students helps us keep capX growing and improving.

New to capX? Go ahead and enroll today. Already enrolled? Reach out to CAF ([email protected]) to access and update your record (please don’t create a new one!)
